Some interesting college matches---and writing
From the sound of these two versions of the Mississippi - Florida men's dual match on Friday, it was quite something. The Florida Alligator's piece headlined Ouellette Defaulted gives the Gators side of the story (note that the second part of the headline is in error in calling the loss to Mississippi state).
The Daily Mississippian has the Ole Miss version of the default and subsequent forfeit. Lost in all the drama was the fact that Jesse Levine remained undefeated in his college career, beating 12th ranked Erling Tveit of Ole Miss 6-4, 6-4.
The men's Harvard loss to Purdue is embedded somewhere in this, how shall I say, creative, account in the Harvard Crimson. It's not every day you read of a tennis player being compared to a shortstop and a cornerback, nor is inhumane abuse a phrase often used in conjunction with a tennis match.

Geez, the reporter from Ole Miss sounds like a fifth grader...."out of bounds", what are they playing, baseball?
Go Jesse, undefeated at number 1!!
Does Oulette have a reputation for that? A little hot-headed, but I don't think I've ever read about that happening? Anybody?
Oullette is a bit of a hot head(ok, a lot of one, he has temper issues), but I gotta say, several of those over rules by the Ole Miss friendly official were so wrong. There was no way some of those calls should've been overruled, not only cause they were out, but where they were on the court, no official in the world would've made those calls. Florida was getting jobbed by the officials all match long, but that has always been the case at Ole Miss. It's a big part of the reason why they are so good at home.
Still, Jackson told Oullette to continue playing out balls after his 4th overrule, but he didn't listen. He would've won, too, because he was better than his opponent. Dolberg was playing well in his match and would've had a great chance in the 3rd set to win the match for Florida.
Levine is ridiculous. This kid is so talented. He toyed with Tveit who is a quality player. Tveit was up 3-0 in the 2nd before Levine said enough.
Great environment for a college match, but I think Florida wins on a neutral court, which is surprising the way they were dominated in doubles. Their singles play was better than Ole Miss. Jackson dropped Dolberg down in the lineup and that has made this team stronger.
did you see levine took down isner!! wow thats impressive!! there goes his dual match streak at 40 something.
