Stanford Women Roll Past Clemson 4-0; Baylor Downs Miami 4-1 in Women's NCAA Round of 16

I'm going to try to post a photo and brief update from each winning team today, to see if that keeps my workload at night more reasonable. After about an hour rain delay when the doubles went indoors briefly, the skies cleared for good and by 1 p.m. No. 4 Stanford had taken down No. 13 Clemson 4-0. Cardinal freshman Hilary Barte set the tone with a much easier win over No. 2 ranked Ani Mijacika at the number one slot than I had thought possible, taking it 6-3, 6-1. Speaking with the press afterward, Barte said she thought they both played well, but the much smaller left-hander was hitting her backhand with authority and Mijacika wasn't able to handle the pace.

Baylor also took care of Miami quickly, winning the doubles point. Romy Farah collected Miami's only point with a win over Taylor Ormond at No. 2. Baylor's Leenka Broosova had a little trouble putting away Michaela Kissell at No. 3, but did earn the Bears second point with a straight set win. Jana Bielikova clinched for Baylor at No. 4.

The live stats and video have been working all day, so hopefully that holds up through the weekend. No surprises thus far, and the Cal-Duke match was very close.
