I thought they have to be at least 14 to be selected. At least 4 of those girls are not 14 yet, 3 of them still have a 12 USTA ranking.
Is Brooke Bolender still at the Evert training camp and wouldn't she be on this selection list
As far as some of those girls not 14 yet, I think that rule applies to "living at the Evert Academy". Some of those girls (the younger one's) have obviously just relocated to the area, so the families can take advantage of the free training/travel expenses. Brooke Bolender enrolled at the Evert Academy I believe a couple of years ago, before the USTA announced the switch there from Key Biscayne, so she is a " Evert academy student"..which is seperate from the USTA selections.
There are many kids not on this list that are deserving, but obviously have a good training situation already, and most likely did not want a part of this. For some of these families that perhaps know little about tennis, and do not have the financial resources to pay others, this is an incredible oppurtunity, and they should feel very fortunate.

Here is the Day Program Overview. REad it yourself.
The Mansfield futures is near my town so I can give your readers an update. Brace yourself for a great final match. Michael McClune's game is peaking as he enters the final; Carsten Ball has been solid (though he started slowly against Austin Krajecik in the semi). Whoa Nelly.
I don't know where to ask this question, but did anyone notice that according to collegeandjuniortennis.com, Brittany Augustine and two other teenagers turned pro this summer.
I'm really shocked by this as I don't recall Brittany Augustine doing anything that impressive in even junior ITF tournaments. Seems like a very strange decisoin. Colette, did you hear about this?
McClune beat Ball in the Mansfield futures. Strategy and grit overcame power.
Of the 4 girls that will stay in the dorm two of them are actual locals from south florida such as vidov and van nguyen, mchale is the protegee of robin white national coach or in this case personal coach and manager AND she also comes from a well off family who can afford accomodation costs and leave the dorm space for a truly deserving player. The only one who truly seems to belong there is weinhold! But again, USTA's thinking leaves much to be desired, and commitment and responsibility are not things that rank high on their list!!!
I think the USTA saw future world champions in these 4 girls that's why they are at the USTA National Training Academy.
