Domijan Signs with Virginia; Bresky Takes Reins at Cornell; ITA Announces All-Americans

A brief post for those who may not have seen the news this morning on Twitter. Alex Domijan has signed a LOI to attend the University of Virginia this fall.

And longtime associate head coach Tony Bresky will be leaving the Cavaliers to head the men's program at Cornell University. For more on Bresky's new position, see the Cornell athletic website.

The ITA has released the Division I final rankings and All-American list, which can be found here.

When do they announce the summer college development teams?

Also, how do you pronounce Domijan?

Huge pick up for Virginia. Domijan should be a top 10 player as a freshman. Domijan, Shabaz, Singh, Jenkins, and Courtney is one potent lineup, and a probable national champion, though Tennessee will be tough as well.

That team is going to be unreal next year.....going to be 2 team race with Virginia and Tennessee with Virginia as my pick, I think Domijan will play 1 at UVa

I agree, Virginia will be a very strong team next year. Domijan is a huge signing. While they are favorite to win it all, the teams UVA has had the last 2-3 years have been ridiculous as well. They just seem to peak to early and can't put together during May. Maybe next year will be different. Don't count USC out, while they do lose a big one in Farah, they plug Sarmiento somewhere between 4-6 and they're still pretty solid. The Vols will be a strong squad again next year as well.

Here we go again Virginia. Let's see who delivers in May..

Actually I think what happens is teams like Virginia and Ohio State take every match during the year seriously and have few injuries and thus end up with great regular seasons. If you take a look at sc and uga from 3 years ago sc has played a few matches without Farah and uga played a few without Flores when they won it.
In my opinion sc has been the best team each of the last 2 years and UCLA has been right there as well, they just underachieve during the season and thus came in seeded much lower then their talent level. Ohio State had a great year this year but no way were they the third best team in the country yet they were seeded 3.

I'm always skeptical of juniors coming in at the top of the lineup as many of them seem to struggle there initially. The best teams have freshmen playing 4, not 1. However, if Domijan actually plays 1, that would give the Hoos almost certain points at 2, 3, 4, and 5 (even against the top teams). That's four guys who won a round in the NCAA singles, and all nearly won 2 rounds, playing 2-5. That being said, they still COULD lose. Dump the doubles, win #1 and #6 against Domijan and Uriguen and then upset one of the four "locks." I'd say they are as strong a favorite as UGA the year that they had Isner, Flores, Helgeson and Schnugg and Hunt playing 5 and 6. They went undefeated and won, but they were playing at home and it still was tight at the end.

It's always going to be tight in the final four, no matter how stacked your team is.

There's no way Boland will put Domijan at one, even if he's the best player on paper. Somdev made the NCAAs as a freshman playing three, and weve seen his career take off since then...He will most likely be at three behind Shabaz and Singh, maybe two, followed by Courtney, Jenkins, and maybe Urigen, Shane, or anyone of the unbelievably talented players on that roster...If UVA doesn't win now, how soon until we can start chanting curse...

You earn your spot. Nothing's given. If you are good enough like a Cunha or a Levine, you'll be successful at #1. If you're not, like most Fr., then you don't. Domijan has the fall events to establish his spot in the lineup. His results will dictate where he plays, regardless of his age/class.

Confused, umm read the newspaper much? Football team got nailed for a bunch of stuff as well as men's hoops. Two year bowl ban for fball. Women's tennis team got in trouble for a player using a calling card and believe had to forfeit several matches from a couple years ago.
