Harrison, Vandeweghe Win Australian Open Main Draw Wild Cards
For those of you following my twitter feed this is old news, but 18-year-old CoCo Vandeweghe and 17-year-old Ryan Harrison won the main draw wild cards Monday night at the USTA's competition at the Racquet Club of the South in Atlanta. The sixth-seeded Harrison beat top seed Jesse Levine 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 and fourth-seeded Vandeweghe beat No. 3 seed Christina McHale, last year's AO wild card winner, 7-6 (2), 0-6, 6-3.

Why was Eric Quigley in the mix for the Aussie Open wildcard? Wouldn't there be more qualified players with ATP points that would be more deserving of a chance to play for such a high prize?
Harrison is clearly deserving... and with regards specifically to Quigley, he is a very good player but harrison would beat him 9 out of 10 times and has 100 times more potential to be a top 10 tennis player. They really aren't even comparable.

Nobody questioned Harrison being in much less compared him with Quigley. What was that about? Top 10? I think I'd hold off on that as well.
Go USA! We have 16 out of the 32 juniors left in the final rounds of the 16s and 18s. From what I have seen this week, US juniors are making the future of US tennis look very promising.
Harrison is a fine young deserving american talent. My question was concerning a player (Quigley) ranked #70 in the college rankings receiving a wildcard to play in a playoff for main draw opportunity in the Australian Open! Can anyone explain the USTA's decision on that?
