Big Ten Recap; Easter Bowl Slideshow; Isner Wins French Wild Card, Women's Semis Friday

My story on Sunday's Big Ten Men's Championship match is now available at the Tennis Recruiting Network. I haven't publicly thanked them recently for providing me with an outlet for my work, and one that allows me to offset the expenses of my travel to tournaments, but I do appreciate it. Please consider signing up for a Recruiting Advantage account if you don't already have one, to get the best the site has to offer.

It took longer than I would have liked, but the Easter Bowl slideshow and short YouTube videos are now complete. In addition to the Evan King video below, there are 11 others of Easter Bowl finalists at the TennisKalamazoo channel.

John Isner won the French Open wild card tournament today, beating Jesse Levine 7-6(2), 6-4, 6-4, according to this Sun-Sentinel story that went up only hours after the completion of the match. Sloane Stephens, who is quoted in this story after her win over Gail Brodsky, will play Nicole Gibbs on Friday. This will be something of a dilemma for the Junior Fed Cup qualifying that starts tommorrow--Gibbs was expected to play No. 1 singles on a team that includes Lauren Herring and Ester Goldfeld. I haven't seen the draw yet, but the rosters for all four events can be found at the bottom of this story at usta.com.

I'll update via Twitter (look left) when I get the results of the other two quarterfinal matches between Stacey Tan and Kristie Ahn and CoCo Vandeweghe and Lauren Embree.

Anyone else terribly worried about Levine and Young?

I know Levine was injured awhile ago, hopefully his lack of good play lately is because he is still trying to get back to full strength. Against Isner on clay is not a time when he should be getting swept. These guys need to get into the Top100.

Does anyone know how Domijan and Harrison did in Vero Beach Futures yesterday? For some reason they never updated the draw last night. It will be worth the drive to watch them play each other.

They both lost. It's updated on the ATP site. Van Overbeek won though and will be in today's quarters.

Jeez, wake up people. The way some of you people talk its like you don't know anything about tennis at all. Guys with monster serves and no groundstrokes like Arthurs, Karlovic and Guccione have done well at the French and other clay tournaments in the past so why the big deal when Isner beats Levine?

How come you didnt cover the ojai? It has an amazing singles field in the pac-10. Also the mens open is the level of a future, with guys like Lester cook, cecil mamiit, roman borvanov, nima roshan, rylan rizza, robert yim, shane laporte, brian wilson, and a couple of really good socal juniors.

colette, do you know why the usta doesn't seem to release results of these wild card matches in anything close to a timely manner? this is very rare in a real-time world. there doesn't seem to be much publicity either. it seems like an opportunity lost.

There were a couple of stories on the wild card tournament that I didn't have a chance to link to: this one from the Miami Herald, and this one from the AP.

Saw below the story in the Miami Herald that Coria retired. I guess when you go mental in a grand slam final and stop taking steroids theres nothing left. Kinda sad, hes only 27.
