Part I of NCAA Roundtable at Tennis Recruiting Network; 48 First Round D-I Regional Matches Scheduled for Friday; Quevedo Reaches Bonita Springs $100K Quarterfinals; Kim Advances to $15K Orange Park Quarterfinals

Part I of the annual NCAA Roundtable that Tennis Recruiting Network organizes for the Division I team championships is up today. I've lost count of how many times I've participated, but it always motivates me to dig a little deeper into past NCAA tournaments as I try to look into this year's future results. Part II, with my predictions for the champions, will be out Friday.

If you'd like to put your expertise or hunches to work, Chris Halioris at College Tennis Ranks has set brackets up for D-I men, D-I women and D-III men. Click on the bracket challenge tab at the upper left of the website to find select one or all you'd like to fill out.

The first round gets underway tomorrow, with all of the women's teams and half of the men's teams in action. Below are Friday's matchups. The other 16 men's teams get underway Saturday. Cracked Racquets will have coverage of this weekend's regionals on two different streams on their YouTube channel. See this ITA article for more information. The ITA also has produced a page with the live scoring and live streaming links, by region. NCAA Division I women's team bracket is here; men's team bracket is here.

Seventeen-year-old Kaitlin Quevedo has moved into the quarterfinals of the women's $100,000 USTA Pro Circuit tournament in Bonita Springs Florida, beating fellow qualifier Victoria Hu(Princeton) 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 in 2 hours and 41 minutes. Next up for Quevedo is No. 3 seed Caroline Dolehide, who beat Louisa Chirico 6-4, 6-4. Emma Navarro advanced to the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 in France today, so I believe she has locked up the USTA's Roland Garros wild card, even if Dolehide wins the title in Bonita Springs. Official word will not come from the USTA until next week.

At the men's $15,000 USTA Pro Circuit tournament in Orange Park Florida, 18-year-old Aidan Kim, a recent University Florida signee, defeated former Gator star Duarte Vale of Portugal, the No. 4 seed, 7-5, 6-7(1), 6-4 to reach the quarterfinals. Kim, who plays former South Carolina star Daniel Rodrigues of Portugal next, now has reached two quarterfinals and one semifinal in Florida $15Ks since February.

Colette, what was Lerner Tien’s eligibility issue? 3 of your TRN roundtable members reference eligibility issues/drama. Why would an American Jr. have an issue? I’m aware that there are more reasons a foreign player (Jones TCU) may face challenges. For those of us non-insiders who did not follow the regular season closely, can provide a refresher or summary of Tien’s situation. Glad he is able to play.

From what I have heard, the issue was accounting for the funds received as a participant in the US Open main draw.

Colette, are you saying there is still a limit to prize money earned even though there is not a limit to $$ earned from NIL?

Yes, that's my understanding.
