My Easter Bowl 16s and 18s Recap; ITF J300 Indian Wells Videos; Walker and Dussault Earn ITF J60 Titles on Junior Circuit; Woestendick and Rabman Top Seeds at J200 in Canada This Week

I'm wrapping up the article portion of my three weeks of junior tennis coverage in Southern California with my Tennis Recruiting Network recap of the FILA Easter Bowl 16s and 18s in Indian Wells. Congratulations again to Claire An, Ian Bracks, Cassius Chinlund and Valerie Glozman on earning USTA gold balls and a place on the impressive list of Easter Bowl champions.

Below are videos of the finals of the first edition of the ITF J300 FILA International Junior Championships, held during the second week of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Both matches were played on Stadium 2 on the final Sunday; I hope as word gets out about the junior event, more people will drop in, although in an 8000 seat stadium, even 1000 spectators would seem like a small crowd. I still have to process the San Diego and Easter Bowl videos, which I hope to do before the end of this month.

Last week was a relatively quiet one on the ITF Junior Circuit, with no J300s, but two Americans picked up J60 singles titles in the Caribbean.

Fifteen-year-old Maximus Dussault earned his first ITF Junior Circuit singles title last week at the J60 in the Dominican Republic, with the No. 3 seed defeating top seed Nikola Jovic of Serbia 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals and fellow blue chip sophomore and No. 7 seed Dominik Mosejczuk 6-3, 6-3 in the final. Dussault and Mosejczuk played doubles together, losing in the semifinals.

Dussault did not drop a set during the week to add a singles title to the two ITF Junior Circuit doubles titles he won last year.

Eighteen-year-old Catherine Walker, a Sacramento State signee, won her second J60 title of the year last week in Trinidad and Tobago, as the top seed. Walker, who did not drop a set in her four victories, defeated No. 2 seed Sahana Sanjeev 6-1, 6-2 in another all-US final. Walker now has a total of five ITF Junior Circuit singles titles.

Kayla Moore and Ligaya Murray, who won doubles title at the J30 in Trinidad and Tobago two weeks ago, made it two in a row last week, with the unseeded pair beating unseeded Ana Avramovic
and Kalista Papadopoulos of the US 6-1, 6-2 in the final. No. 2 seeds Holland Snell and Canadian partner David Asenov won the boys doubles title over No. 3 seeds Dillon Beckles and Easton Horricks of the US, 6-7(5), 7-6(7), 10-2. It's Snell's second ITF Junior Circuit title, both in doubles.

At the J30 in Honduras last week, 17-year-old Julia Bedard reached the singles final and won the doubles title a week after sweeping both the week prior at another J30 in Honduras. Bedard, seeded No. 4, lost to No. 8 seed Sara Kostic of Canada 6-0, 3-6, 6-4 in singles. In doubles, top seeds Bedard and Nina Marcela Chavez Vicente of Guatemala defeated the unseeded team of Kostic and Asia Sundas of Italy 7-5, 6-4 in the final.

This week's J200 in Canada, on indoor hard courts, has drawn a number of Americans, with the top two boys seeds and top three girls seeds from the United States. Indian Wells J300 champion Cooper Woestendick is the No. 1 seed and he won his first round match today over Stephane Pierre-Jo Kamendje of Canada 6-2, 6-3; No. 2 seed Adhithya Ganesan lost to Canadian Connor Church  6-4, 3-6, 6-3.  Indian Wells J300 finalist Thea Rabman is the top girls seed, and she won her first round match today 6-1, 6-0 over Addison Yang Comiskey of Canada. Alexia Harmon is the No. 2 seed; she and No. 3 seed Anya Murthy have not completed their first round matches yet.
