Scott Wins Again at Concord WTA 125; No. 1 Seed Rabman Ousted at USTA Girls 16s; USTA Boys 16s and 18s Doubles Seeds; Kingsley Tops Kubler at Decatur $25K; Brooksby Beats Auger-Aliassime to Join Three Other Americans in ATP Citi Open Quarterfinals

Katrina Scott, the No. 2 seed in the upcoming USTA Girls 18s Nationals in San Diego, is preparing with wins at the opposite side of the country, reaching the quarterfinals of the WTA 125 in Concord Massachusetts. The 17-year-old wild card, who beat No. 5 seed Lauren Davis in the first round, took out unseeded Caroline Dolehide 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 in today's second round action. Scott will face unseeded Magdalena Frech of Poland, who beat No. 9 seed Storm Sanders of Australia 6-3, 6-2.

Scott and No. 3 seed Madison Brengle, who is in the bottom half, are the only two Americans in the quarterfinals.

Two of the other top contenders for the Girls 18s title in San Diego, Robin Montgomery and Ashlyn Krueger, both lost in the final round of qualifying at the WTA 500 in San Jose, but they received a doubles wild card and advanced to the quarterfinals today with a 6-3, 6-2 win over the Dutch team of Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove and Rosalie Van der Hoek.

Top seed USTA Nationals 16s seed Theadora Rabman was upset today in the second round in San Diego, with Sari Woo, who has a UTR of 8.96 compared to Rabman's 10.48, winning the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-0. Rabman, the Easter Bowl champion, was the only Top 16 seed to lose today.

The USTA Boys 18s tournament begins Friday, with the first round of singles (the top 32 seeds receive byes) and two rounds of doubles (the top 16 seeds receive byes, so play later in the day). Boys 16s play starts on Saturday. The Top 8 seeds in doubles:

Wild card Cannon Kingsley, a rising junior at Ohio State, advanced to the quarterfinals of this week's $25,000 men's USTA Pro Circuit tournament in Decatur Illinois, defeating top seed Jason Kubler of Australia 7-6(5), 3-6, 6-3. Kubler was coming off a title at last week's ATP Challenger 80 in Lexington. Kinglsey will face Aidan McHugh of Great Britain next.  No seeds remain after today's second round. Other quarterfinalists include Illinois rising freshman Karlis Ozolins of Latvia, who used a junior exemption for entry, qualifier Eliot Spizzirri(Texas), 2019 NCAA champion Paul Jubb of Great Britain and Alex Rybakov(TCU). 

Jenson Brooksby has advanced to the ATP 500 Citi Open quarterfinals, with the 20-year-old from Sacramento California beating No. 2 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada 6-3, 6-4 this afternoon. The 2018 Kalamazoo 18s champion will face John Millman of Australia, who beat No. 8 seed Reilly Opelka 6-3, 7-6(4).  Denis Kudla, playing in his hometown tournament, reached the quarterfinals for the second time in his career with a 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-4 win over Brandon Nakashima. Steve Johnson beat Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania 6-3, 6-1 and another NCAA singles champion, Mackenzie McDonald, defeated Ilya Ivashka of Belarus 6-4, 6-4. McDonald will face Kudla Friday, guaranteeing an American semifinalist.
