North Carolina Women, Wake Forest Men Continue to Top ITA Division I Rankings; Eastern Kentucky Cuts Men's and Women's Tennis; Details on USTA's June College Combine Released

While I've been busy covering the big Southern California junior tournaments, the college tennis season has been rolling along, with conference play well underway.  The upsets have continued, and many of my conversations with Division I college coaches recruiting at the Easter Bowl and Carson centered on the parity in the sport right now. But the top teams in both the men's and women's rankings have remained the same since February's ITA Team Indoor Championships: the Wake Forest men and North Carolina women, who won those events.

Below are this week's team rankings, as well as the new singles and doubles rankings.  Clicking on the heading will take you to the full rankings at the ITA website.

Eastern Kentucky announced last week that it would be eliminating its men's and women's tennis programs, in a round of cuts that was not limited to athletics, but also included suspending academic programs and eliminating jobs. For more on the tennis teams' success, both on the court and in the classroom, see this article from the Richmond Register.

The USTA officially announced its second annual All-American Collegiate Combine yesterday, which will be held at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona Florida June 18-21.  Lisa Stone at Parenting Aces has posted a pdf of the event guide, which has all the details.

Thanks for the correction. I guess I used April 3 rankings by mistake.
