My Kalamazoo Preview; Southern California Takes Girls 18s National Team Title
We're just over an hour into the tournament here in Kalamazoo, so I thought I should post a link to my preview which was posted this morning at the Tennis Recruiting Network.
Also, congratulations to top seed Southern California, who won the USTA girls 18s National Team championship last night in Claremont, defeating No. 3 seed Southern 4-3 in a match that came down to No. 1 singles.
Southern took the doubles point and got singles wins from Taylor Davidson at 3 and Kendal Woodard at 4. Southern Cal's first three wins came from No. 2 Gabby Andrews, No. 5 Maegan Manasse and No. 6 Jana McCord. That left it up to Mayo Hibi and Kourtney Keegan at No. 1, with Hibi taking the first set 6-2 and Keegan forcing a third set by taking the second 6-4. Hibi won the final set 6-4, to give Southern California the title. Midwest finished third, defeating Eastern 5-2.
Complete results are available at the TennisLink site.

Colette, do you have any results for the boys' 16s team championships from Utah? I find it unacceptable that on the USTA site there is nothing available. I searched last night and came up empty.
No Juan, I'm sorry I don't have any information on that tournament.
Juan and Colette, the 16s tourney in Utah was Zonals which is not a boys championship only but both boys & girls playing singles, doubles & mixed.
Here is the link to the winners from the 16s Zonals in Utah: http://tennislink.usta.com/TOURNAMENTS/TournamentHome_New/Tournament.aspx?T=107275.
Team Sidewinder from NorCal took the Gold, and Team Desperado also from NorCal took Silver. There were 12 teams, including multiple SoCal teams, Southwest, Intermountain, Hawaii, and maybe others? Hard to tell where the teams were from on the site.
Juan, I'm guessing this is the tourney you're referring to?
Hi Zonals, yes it is, thank you. I am in NorCal and our section gave a bunch of results for the boys' and girls' 18s teams via Facebook but nothing on the 16s. Thanks again for the link!
