Slideshow, Video from USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships

In a reversal of the usual order, I'm posting the slideshow and videos from the weekend's USTA/ITA Indoor Intercollegiate Championships before I link to my recap for the Tennis Recruiting Network. TRN's big day is tomorrow, which is Fall Signing Day, so they have plenty of announcements coming, including my Q and A with blue chip Caroline Price. So look for the recap of the Indoor early next week, and enjoy the slideshow and videos. The Indoor Center at the National Tennis Center is a fantastic venue for players and spectators, and I know many of the competitors were excited about being on the site of the U.S. Open and in New York. It was also great to have the coaches workshops, the ACE conference and the Eastern college showcase at the same time. The younger players could see great tennis while making the tournament the hub of tennis activity in the area.

can't help but notice that both UVA and Texas A&M mens tennis have 13 on their rosters. With 4.5 scholarhips how is that possible?

Didn't know where to post this but I was disheartened when my son received his SMASH magazine from the USTA with an indication it was being discontinued in the paper edition and going on-line.

If, the USTA is trying to prop up the kid's then why get rid of this magazine. They did a great job, it looked good and I always saw kid's looking at it at the pro shop while waiting for clinics or lessons. A kid is not going to go on-line to read this, with it sitting in a pro shop on a table was a perfect place for these kids to pick it up...it should have been shipped to every pro shop, club or park in America. It made tennis look fun, they could see kid's their own age succeeding at the sport, and be a a great incentive for those to try the sport.

IMHO, USTA has blown it again!!

Take a look at the Notre Dame website. They have far more than that. It's called paying 50 grand a year.

Most of the scholarships are split. Not many get a full ride compared to the women. (Title 9 and all). Other means are through: academic scholarships, grants, parents paying, student loans, etc. Doesn't mean they are scholarship.
