A Q and A with Me; Team Indoor Championships Begin Friday

The Tennis Recruiting Network asked me last month if I would do a question and answer piece about me and zootennis.com. In January, zootennis celebrated its 5th anniversary, so it seemed appropriate to reflect back on the origins of the site and its future. They asked the questions, I answered them, and if you are interested in how I got my start, why Andy Murray and Reka Zsilinszka are special to me, and what I'd change about college and junior tennis, click here.

The amount of snow in Charlottesville is impressive, but as far as I know, only one team had serious travel difficulties: UCLA. They have arrived, but will not get an opportunity to practice until late this evening, so their match with Kentucky has been moved to 6:30 Friday evening. The Mississippi-Georgia match will take the 3:00 p.m. spot instead.

For the complete draws, see the ITA men's tournament site. The women's Team Indoor also begins Friday in Madison, Wisc., and to follow it, see the ITA tournament site.

How come UCLA is the only team with travel problems? Fresno St.Stanford and USC are all travelling from the west coast? Not a good start for the Bruins...

Depends on the airport. The Charlottesville airport was open Wednesday. Perhaps they were flying to Dulles which was closed. For example, Stanford flew through Charlotte to Charlottesville.

If Johnson cant play because of back spasms at Indoors I'm going with Stanford to upset them in the quarters and then Tennessee to beat Stanford in the semis and have the Vols knock off UVA in the finals. I think Tennessee can beat UVA indoors, but USC cant.

Trojans shut out of Fresno! Stevie will be back if not SC will find a way.Everybody will step up .

Wow Texas shut out of Mighty Stanford 4-0. That's harsh. So much for Stanford's big guns . USC 4-2 over Texas.

Yet again I vastly overrate Stanford. Never factor in how much many players regress once they get to campus, at least since the turn of the century. Texas just throttled them.

I believed last year Stanford was criticized due to coaching. They are loaded with talents so what seems to be the problem here ?

Texas is loaded with talents too . I guess they performed better as a team on a much bigger stage !! Texas 4-3 vs USC .

I dont know the coaching situation at Stanford so I wont comment on whether or not thats the problem, but its becoming an epidemic there. So many guys come in as top ranked juniors, yet they arent putting anything in the trophy cases on The Farm.

If you told Stanford tennis fans 2yrs ago that in 2010 you could have Brad Klahn, Ryan Thacher and Alex Clayton playing 1-3, they would probably ask where the banner is going to be hung.

All of the teams are loaded with talent. Maybe, Fresno State doesn't quite have what the rest do, but they are still good. It shows you that Junior success does not always predict college TEAM MATCH success! However, we must not forget that Championships are won in May, not February!

PS Georgia keeps coming through in big matches, especially Hunt! (I'm not a fan, just an observer) I think the ownership that the players, coaches, alumni take of that program is incredible! I wish all players at schools big and small would do this!

To wi tennis
It would have been surprising if hunt did not come though in the ole miss match as he is a senior and he was playing a freshman.
