A Tennis-related Adventure--in Vietnam

My weekly post for The Tennis Recruiting Network centers around an exciting new program called "Coach for College" that has been created by Parker Goyer, a recent Duke graduate. At the NCAAs, I spoke with Reka Zsilinszka and Amanda Granson, two members of Duke's current women's team, about their upcoming trips to Vietnam to assist with sports camps in rural parts of the country.

Some interesting results in Delray...

- Sarmiento lit up Bangoura but then was easily dismissed by Evan King...brutal section of the draw

- Sundling beating Federhofer on clay is a nice win

- still thinks Domijan takes it

Did anyone see that, due to the rain, they are going to start sets at 2-2 for the doubles in Delray Beach? I've heard of super tiebreaks in lieu of third sets, and just going to straight 8 or 10 game pro sets, but not sure I've ever heard of that solution for speeding things up. That's pretty funny.

was just on the USTA player development link, does anyone know why all the National coaches from Carson are gone besides Ray?

It is Thursday, and my first doubles match is schedule for 8:30 pm which was originally scheduled for last Saturday. Don't blame the weather, it's the incompetence of the tournament organizers. They only use 4 out of the 12 courts at the Delray Beach Tennis Center at night where they have lights available until 10 pm. I am going home to prepare for the hardcourt season.

Ray is the only women's coach still remaining. They kept all the mens coaches, cause men's tennis is on a downhill at the moment. And Ray is just that amazing.

All of the Florida Claycourts were given permission by the USTA to start the doubles and consolation at 2-2 and with a 10 pt tiebreaker instead of the third -- through yesterday. I have not heard if this was going to continue.

The rain was just unbelievable and, honestly, I'm amazed they have even gotten in as much play as they have at the sites.
