Clays Underway; Aubone Wins Peoria
I've been busy today getting ready for my first trip to the girls 18s Clay Courts in Memphis on Monday. I'll be traveling most of the day, but look for my coverage of the tournament beginning on Tuesday and continuing throughout the week. The first round was played today in the five divisions in South Florida and in Virginia Beach, Greensboro and Memphis. To have look at the field in Memphis, and today's results, see the TennisLink site.
In Peoria, the $10,000 Pro Circuit Futures title went to Jean-Yves Aubone of Florida State, who defeated Bryan Koniecko of Ohio State in the final. The Journal Star has already posted a very detailed account of the match here.
USC's Amanda Fink fell in the final of the $50,000 Challenger in Allentown and there's no account available yet, but click here for the update from yesterday's semifinals.

hey, looking forward to your coverage of the girls 18s. Do you know if any sites are doing coverage of the boys 18-16 in FLorida?
Thanks

Based on a previous post about seedings, how was Domijan not seeded #1 because he is inside the top 1000?
Speaking of college kids, Andre Begemann of Pepperdine rolled to the title at a Futures event in Germany last week and Brett Ross of Wake Forest made the finals of one in Peru.
Devvarman's been on a pretty ridiculous tear lately. I know this was pretty much an exhibition, but he beat some decent guys out there. Does that make him a potential world-beater?
Brent:
Good question. They used the ATP list of June 23rd and his ranking at that time was outside the top 1000.
Marcia Frost will be covering several of the clay court championships in South Florida this week for collegeandjuniortennis.com.
I miss Rockville. This is the 3rd day of the tournamnet and I have only played only one game in only one match! Although they tell us that the kids can play until 10 pm under the lights, they cancelled all matches on Sunday at 3 pm and it was beautiful outside at 5:30. On Tuesday, after the rain stopped at 4 pm, they only started groming the courts at 5:30 pm. They only have one court maintenance person at the Delray Beach Tennis Center and play resumed on only 2 courts! This is the number one worst managed Supernational that I have ever been to. Rain is forecasted all week and the management doesn't seem to prepare the courts for night play after the rains stop. We will be here forever trying to play the tournament from hell. This tourny needs to move back to Rockville or anywhere else because this management is so inept. This morning there were six matches going with only one linesman that was sitting off court on a bench! Rockville had a chair ump on every court. The USTA needs to move this tourny as I am not coming back here next year!
