Valencia and Dupere Win Les Petits As USA Playoffs; Guzman Shocks Top Seed Maria at W100 Edmond; TCU Dominates M25 Austin Semifinals; Semifinal Clash Set for Connie and Lea Ma in Redding W35

The annual Les Petits As USA Playoffs concluded today in Port St. Lucie, with two 2026 USTA National Clay Courts champions taking the top spot after three round robin matches and three knockout round matches.

Miguel Valencia, who won the boys 12s Clay Courts in July, was not one of the direct entries, coming through the qualifying event with three others to fill out the 16-player fields.

Yesterday and today's results are not posted on the Les Petits As website, so this information is gathered from the Instagram account, but Valencia defeated No. 3 seed William McGugin in the quarterfinals, top seed Evan Fan 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in the semifinals, and No. 4 seed James Borchard 7-6(10), 6-7(6), 6-2 in today's final. The other boys semifinalist was No. 2 seed Novak Masteller, with all four semifinalists receiving spots in the prestigious 14-and-under tournament next January 25-31 in Tarbes France.

Top seed Lucy Dupere, who finished fifth in last year's USA Playoffs, defeated Noa Boar 6-0, 6-2 in today's final. Dupere, the girls 14s Clay Courts champion, won her two matches Thursday in straight sets(no scores currently available), so it was a dominant performance from her. Anna Sandru reached the semifinals and has qualified for the tournament in Tarbes but I'm not sure who the fourth girl is.

After two days of rain, Friday meant a surfeit of tennis at the W100 in Edmond Oklahoma, with former Sooner standout Dana Guzman getting not one but two big wins today. In her first round match the 23-year-old qualifier from Peru posted a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over former WTA No. 32 Caroline Dolehide, in the second round she recorded her first WTA Top 100 win, beating top seed and current WTA No. 71 Tatjana Maria of Germany 6-4, 2-6, 6-0. Next up for Guzman is a former major champion, with No. 5 seed Sloane Stephens beating Madison Brengle 6-2, 6-3 to advance.

Two 17-year-olds who have somehow not played before, Julieta Pareja and Kristina Penickova are the other quarterfinalists in the top half. Penickova defeated No. 3 seed Elvina Kalieva 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 for her best win by ranking, with Kalieva at 112. Pareja finished her first round match in one game, beating No. 6 seed Elli Mandlik 7-5, 6-1 after leading 7-5, 5-1 for two days, and then beat Varvara Lepchenko 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.

No. 8 seed Akasha Urhobo and No. 4 seed Kristina Liutova are playing their quarterfinal tonight, as they had completed their first round matches on Tuesday, before all the rain delays. Urhobo beat Alicia Herrero Linana(Baylor) of Spain 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 and Liutova defeated Malaika Rapolu(Texas) 6-3, 6-4 in their second round matches today.

The winner of that match will play No. 2 seed Renata Zarazua of Mexico in the semifinals.

Three of the four semifinalists at the M25 in Austin Texas have competed for TCU, with Wake Forest sophomore Dominick Mosejczuk the only player left that can keep a Horned Frog from a title.

Mosejczuk defeated Auburn sophomore Iker Urribarrens of Spain 6-2, 6-2 to earn a meeting with top seed and former TCU All-American Alastair Gray of Great Britain. Gray defeated Sebastian Gorzny(TCU, Texas) 5-7, 7-6(3), 6-2 tonight to advance.

No. 8 seed Lui Maxted of Great Britain, the 2024 fall NCAA doubles champion, defeated Andrew Fenty(Michigan) 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in today's quarterfinals and will play qualifier Cosme Rolland de Ravel of France, who competed for TCU last year after transferring from Old Dominion. Rolland de Ravel beat Benjamin Willwerth 6-3, 6-2 in today's other quarterfinal in the bottom half.

Former Stanford All-American Connie Ma and former Georgia All-American Lea Ma have reached the semifinals of the W35 in Redding California and will play each other Saturday. Wild card Connie defeated Maria Sholokhova(Wisconsin) of Russia 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and No. 7 seed Lea(no relation to Connie) defeated qualifier Salma Drugdova of Slovakia, a junior at Texas, 7-6(5), 6-1.

Ohio State junior Nao Nishino of Japan, a qualifier, advanced to the semifinals when top seed Vivian Wolff(Georgia, UCLA) retired at 6-7(6), 6-4, 2-1 in the third set. Nishino will play either No. 8 seed Annika Penickova or Pepperdine junior Duru Soke of Turkey who are playing tonight.

At the M15 in Lexington Kentucky, two current and two former collegians will face off in the semifinals. No. 8 seed Jack Anthrop(Ohio State) will play University of Kentucky senior Eli Stephenson, a qualifier, in the top half, while Texas A&M junior Theo Papamalamis of France, the No. 5 seed, takes on Sweden's Nikola Slavic, a former All-American at Ole Miss.

Reese Brantmeier(UNC) and Duke freshman Mimi Xu are through to the semifinals at the W50 in Quebec. Brantmeier defeated 17-year-old qualifier Thara Gowda 6-1, 6-3 and Xu beat Yuki Naito of Japan 6-4, 7-5. Brantmeier will face No. 4 seed Kajsa Rinaldo Persson of Sweden; Xu's opponent is former Auburn All-American Ariana Arseneault of Canada, who defeated No. 8 seed Ayana Akli 6-3, 6-3.
