Pareja Claims Girls Title, Bonding Wins Boys Championship at ITF J300 Roehampton; Karki, Goode, Farzam and Friedman Qualify for Wimbledon Junior Championships; Fritz and Anisimova Advance to Fourth Round
No. 3 seed Julieta Pareja celebrated the Fourth of July with some fireworks on her own, claiming her third ITF J300 title with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over unseeded Elizara Yaneva of Bulgaria today at Roehampton. The 16-year-old Californian, who won the J300 in Colombia in January and the J300 in Indian Wells in March, will have a well-deserved day off Saturday, after playing 11 matches in the past six days, five in doubles and six in singles.
Pareja and Thea Frodin, the No. 2 seeds in doubles, lost to top seeds Alena Kovackova and Jana Kovackova of the Czech Republic 6-7(2), 7-5, 13-11 in the doubles final.
Unseeded Oliver Bonding of Great Britain won his first ITF title of the year, with the 2025 British 18s champion defeating No. 9 seed Alexander Vasilev of Bulgaria 6-4, 6-2 in today's final. Bonding will also have the day off Saturday, before his blockbuster first round match against No. 8 seed Jack Kennedy, who did not play Roehampton.
No. 2 seeds Timofei Derepasko of Russia and Jacopo Vasami of Italy won the boys doubles title, beating the wild card team of Conor Brady and Benjamin Gusic Wan of Great Britain 6-3, 6-4.
Four more Americans will join the 16 already in the main draw of the Wimbledon Junior Championships after positing victories in the final round of qualifying today at Roehampton.
No. 7 seed Leena Friedman defeated No. 16 seed Maja Pawelska of Poland 6-4, 7-5; No. 9 seed Gavin Goode defeated No. 4 seed Tito Chavez of Spain 6-3, 7-5; No. 14 seed Matisse Farzam beat No. 8 seed Michele Mecarelli of Italy 6-1, 6-2 and top seed Ronit Karki got past No. 13 seed Hidde Schoenmakers of the Netherlands 7-6(3), 2-6, 10-6. All four will be making their Wimbledon debuts, after having Saturday off.
Capucine Jauffret, the No. 8 seed, lost to Lea Nilsson of Sweden 2-6, 6-2, 11-9. Once again, I'll voice my disappointment in match tiebreakers being used for junior slam qualifying, which Australia and Roland Garros do not do. The US Open also uses match tiebreakers in lieu of a third set in junior qualifying matches.
Nine of the 20 Americans in the Wimbledon Junior Championships will play their first round matches Saturday.

Ben Shelton needed just one minute to complete his second round win over Rinky Hijikata of Australia, which was suspended for darkness last night with Shelton serving for the match with the score 6-2, 7-5, 5-4. Amanda Anisimova, who made the WTA 500 Queen's Club final last month, is through to the fourth round at Wimbledon for the second time in her career with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win over Dalma Galfi of Hungary.
