Unfortunately, the bad weather forecast for the 12s and 14s in San Antonio Tuesday arrived as predicted and the singles semifinals and the doubles finals were canceled for the day this afternoon. Both semifinals and finals will be played on Wednesday, along with the doubles finals. Although it is raining now, the skies are expected to clear overnight. The semifinal matchups and doubles finals teams can be found in my post last night.

The acceptances for the ITF J300 Coffee Bowl in Costa Rica, scheduled for the second straight year on the same week on the calendar as the Australian Open Junior Championships, has seven US boys and seven US girls in the main draw, which is again a 32 draw. The tournament, one of the most popular on the junior circuit, was a 64-draw until the pandemic, but returned from that disruption in 2022 as a 32-draw, and has continued with that number.

The 11 US players who received main draw entry into the Australian Open Junior Championships are staying put there (Mia Slama moved into the main draw, Kaitlin Quevedo is now representing Spain), although the withdrawal deadline isn't until next Tuesday. The top four girls in the AO junior acceptances did not enter the J300 in Traralgon the week before, so they may pull out of Melbourne; Japan's Mayu Crossley, still struggling with a wrist injury, has withdrawn from both events.

Back to Costa Rica, where the girls top seed likely will be Alisa Oktiabreva of Russia, who withdrew from the Australian Open and entered Costa Rica instead. The American girls in the main draw are Katie Rolls, Claire An, Monika Ekstrand, Maya Iyengar, Christasha McNeil, Shannon Lam and Tori Osuigwe. Thea Frodin and Anya Murthy are one and three spots out of the main draw right now.

Nikita Filin, who was six out of the Australian Open boys main draw, opted for Costa Rica instead, and he tops the acceptance list. The six other US boys in the main draw are Stiles Brockett, Calvin Baierl, Noah Johnston, Kase Schinnerer, Matisse Farzam and Jack Kennedy. Max Dussault and Carel Ngounoue are three and four out of the main draw as of today.

The second of two wild card tournaments for Southern California Open ATP Challengers later this month in Indian Wells has finished with top seed Govind Nanda beating No. 3 seed Gianluca Brunkow(UC Santa Barbara) 6-3, 6-4 in the final to claim a qualifying wild card. 2019 Kalamazoo 18s finalist Nanda, who left UCLA after his junior year in 2021 for pro tennis, is on the Bruins' 2023-24 roster, although his eligibility won't be confirmed until he actually plays a match for UCLA. The draw for the wild card event can be found here. Jacob Bullard(Texas/Arizona State) won the first wild card tournament last month.
