Johns, Mitsui Meet for Memphis $15K Title; Complete Replays of Kalamazoo Finals Now Available; ITF College Park J1 Qualifying Concludes Sunday; Zheng Reaches Final of Ellesse Challenge; Summer UTR PTT Update

Twenty-one-year-old Garrett Johns of Duke and 20-year-old Japanese Shunsuke Mitsui of Tennessee will meet Sunday in the final of the $15,000 USTA men's Pro Circuit tournament in Memphis Tennessee, with the winner earning his first Pro Circuit singles title.

The unseeded Johns outlasted No. 7 seed and 2021 NCAA champion Sam Riffice(Florida) 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(2) in their three hour and six minute semifinal today, while Mitsui, the No. 6 seed defeated No. 2 seed Zeke Clark(Illinios) 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.

University of Mississippi's  Finn Reynolds of New Zealand and Kentucky's Millen Hurrion of Great Britain defeated Alex Michelsen and Cooper Williams 6-0, 6-1 in a 43-minute doubles final earlier today.

At the WTA 125 in Vancouver, Emma Navarro(Virginia) lost to Valentini Grammatikopoulou of Greece 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in today's semifinals.

I've been asked about replays of the Kalamazoo finals, and all four finals are now available at Dartfish TV. There is no charge to watch them, but a one-step email registration is required. Thanks to Tennis Analytics for their live streaming throughout the week at Stowe Stadium and for making these full replays available.

The final round of qualifying at the Grade 1 in College Park will be played tomorrow at the Junior Tennis Champions Center, with eight spots in both the boys and girls draws available. For more information on the tournaments, as well as links to the draws and order of play, see the JTCC website.

The Ellesse Challenge, an annual men's exhibition tournament in Berks County Pennsylvania, attracted ATP pros Hugo Gaston of France, Sumit Nagal of India and Ryan Harrison, along with Nicholas Bybel(Bucknell) and 2019 US Open boys champion Jonas Forejtek of the Czech Republic.  The sixth player was Wimbledon boys finalist Michael Zheng, who advanced to the final with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Harrison. He lost to Nagal in the final 7-6, 6-1. Harrison made a generous donation to the charity benefitting from the event, which supplies tennis scholarships. For more on today's final, see this article from the Reading Eagle.

It's been nearly two months since I've updated the results from the UTR Pro Tennis Tour, and before the US Open begins, it's time to catch up. Great to see NCAA finalist Connie Ma(Stanford) playing a bit this summer; she hasn't competed in any Pro Circuit events this year.
