I'll begin my coverage of the ITF Grade 1 International Open of San Diego tomorrow, with the main draw beginning at 9 a.m. Pacific time on 16 courts at the Barnes Tennis Center. My preview for the Tennis Recruiting Network can be found here.

The boys qualifiers are: Evan Wen[1](USA), Lucas Andrade Da Silva(BRA), Parashar Bharadwaj(USA), Nemanja Stefanovic[4](CAN), Eli Stephenson[15](USA), Chase Fralick[14](USA), William Thompson[7](USA) and Jordan Reznik[8](USA).

The girls qualifiers are: Lamija Avdic[1](USA), Emily Tan(USA), Michela Moore[10](USA), Claire Zhang(USA), Carolina Bohrer Martins[15](BRA), Daria Smetannikov(USA), Erin Ha[7](USA) and Rachel Lee.

Taylor Fritz defeated Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6(5) to earn the men's singles title at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. The 24-year-old from Rancho Santa Fe California ended the Australian Open champion's winning streak at 20 and became the first American, male or female, to win the Indian Wells title since Serena Williams and Andre Agassi claimed the championships in 2001. Fritz will move to a career-high of 15 (corrected to 13) in the ATP rankings Monday.  For more Fritz's victory, see this article from the ATP. It was a sweep for the US men, with Jack Sock and John Isner winning the doubles title over Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France 7-6(4), 6-3. It's the second BNP Paribas doubles title for the pair, who also won it in 2018.

Denis Kudla made it a stellar weekend for Americans by sweeping the titles at the ATP Challenger 125 in Phoenix. The 29-year-old from Virginia defeated Daniel Altmaier of Germany 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in the singles final, then teamed with former University of Virginia star Treat Huey to take the doubles title. Kudla and Huey beat Oscar Otte and Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany 7-6(10), 3-6, 10-6 in the final.

Rinky Hijikata of Australia won the title at the $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit tournament in Bakersfield California, with the 21-year-old former North Carolina star defeating unseeded Keegan Smith, the 23-year-old former UCLA star, 6-1, 7-5 in today's final. Hijikata, the No. 3 seed, now has six ITF men's pro circuit titles, with the last three at the $25K level. The doubles title in Bakersfield went to No. 2 seeds Ji Sung Nam and Min-Kyu Song of Korea, who defeated No. 4 seeds Daniel Cukierman(USC) of Israel and Ruan Roelofse(Illinois) 6-2, 6-0 in the final.

Clervie Ngounoue dropped both her finals at the $15,000 ITF Women's World Tennis Tour tournament in Morocco, losing to qualifier Eleonora Alvisi of Italy 6-3, 6-1. Ngounoue and fellow junior star Lucija Ciric Bagaric of Croatia lost in the doubles final to No. 2 seeds Naima Karamoko of Switzerland and Ina Murta of Portugal 6-2, 6-7(2), 10-5.

ITF World Junior No. 1 and Australian Open girls champion Petra Marcinko won her second straight $25K title in Turkey, defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto of Italy 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 to stay undefeated in 2022.

The University of Michigan men, fresh off a 4-0 victory over archrival and No. 2 Ohio State Friday indoors, again treated their guests to a shutout, with No. 6 Baylor falling to the Wolverines outdoors in Ann Arbor. After claiming the doubles point via a tiebreaker at line 2, Michigan got wins from Jacob Bickersteth at 5, Patrick Maloney at line 3, with Nick Beaty getting the clinching point at line 6. For more on today's match and the box score, see this article from the Michigan website.

The other big match today in men's Division 1 saw No. 8 Georgia defeat No. 4 Tennessee 4-2 in Knoxville, handing the Volunteers their third straight loss, all to top 10 teams, all at home.

Georgia won the doubles point and took a 3-0 lead with wins from Tristan McCormick at line 3 and Blake Croyder at line 5. Tennessee took the next two points, with Emile Hudd winning at line 2 and Connor Gannon at line 6, but Trent Bryde closed it out for the Bulldogs with a victory at line 4.
