Eddie Herr 12s and 14s Videos; Ritschard, Blanch Advance to $25K, Challenger Finals

Below are the videos of the 12s and 14s Eddie Herr finalists, with the champions first, followed by the runners-up. Due to simultaneous finals, these videos are shorter than those of the ITF event, but I hope they at least provide a brief look at these up-and-coming youngsters.

No. 6 seed Alexander Ritschard advanced to the final of the $25,000 USTA Pro Circuit/Oracle tournament in Los Angeles, beating unseeded USC senior Brandon Holt 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(3) in an all-US semifinal. The 25-year-old Ritschard, a former standout at the University of Virginia, will play top seed Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina for the title. Cerundolo defeated 18-year-old wild card Emilio Nava 6-4, 6-2 to earn his place in the final. Since graduation, Ritschard has reached the finals of a Futures event four times and won all four.

The wild card team of USC teammates Riley Smith and Israel's Daniel Cukierman took the doubles title, defeating Holt and Sandro Ehrat of Switzerland 7-6(4), 7-6(5) in today's final.

At the ATP Challenger 80 in Ann Arbor, unseeded Ulises Blanch will face No. 4 seed Roberto Cid of the Dominican Republic in the final. Cid, a former South Florida All-American, took a two-hour and 45-minute contest with unseeded Stefan Kozlov 7-6(1), 5-7, 6-3. Although there were only two breaks in the match, Blanch dominated No. 10 seed Daniel Altmaier of Germany 6-3, 6-4, with the 21-year-old American facing no break points. Blanch will be playing in his second career Challenger final, with the previous one, which he won, coming in July of 2018.
