Price, Harvey and Ma Reach Quarterfinals at Grade A in Brazil; Collins, Dolehide, Harrison Advance at Indian Wells; Donaldson Reaches First ATP Semifinal; Emory Top New Men's Division III Rankings; Women's D-III Indoor Starts Friday

Three US girls have advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITF Grade A tournament in Porto Alegre Brazil, still in the running to become the fourth consecutive American girl to claim the title, joining Usue Arconada(2015 and 2016) and Amanda Anisimova(2017).


Kacie Harvey defeated No. 10 seed Elli Mandlik 6-3, 6-2 in the only all-US third round match and will face unseeded Manon Leonard of France, who beat No. 15 seed Hailey Baptiste 6-4, 6-2.  Fourteen-year-old Gabby Price, the No. 11 seed, defeated Ana Geller of Argentina 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 and will play unseeded 15-year-old Canadian Leylah Fernandez in the quarterfinals.   Lea Ma, the No. 5 seed, reached the quarterfinals with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Mylene Halemai of France and will meet No. 14 seed Clara Tauson of Denmark, who put an end to the run of Sabina Dadaciu with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory.

No. 4 seed Drew Baird, the only US boy to reach the third round, lost to No. 14 seed Mateus Alvarez of Brazil 6-4, 6-4.  Two American teams have reached the doubles semifinals, with reigning Kalamazoo 16s champions Will Grant and Tyler Zink advancing with a quarterfinal win today, after posting a victory over top seeds Nicolas Mejia of Colombia and Baird in the second round.  Unseeded Peyton Stearns and Shelly Yaloz have advanced to the girls doubles semifinals with a 6-1, 6-7(3), 10-6 win over No. 3 seeds Baptiste and Ma.

Christian Harrison, Danielle Collins and Caroline Dolehide advanced to the quarterfinals of the Oracle Challenger Series tournament today in Indian Wells, joining Taylor Fritz and Amanda Anisimova, who earned their places in the last eight yesterday. Harrison, a qualifier, defeated Dennis Novikov 6-3, 7-6(5) in the $150,000 ATP Challenger. Collins earned the best ranking win of her career, taking out top seed and WTA No. 55 Magda Linette of Poland 5-7, 7-6(0), 6-4, and Dolehide beat No. 3 seed and WTA 69 Su-Wei Hsieh of Taiwan 7-6(5), 7-6(5) at the WTA 125 tournament.

Jared Donaldson has reached his first ATP semifinal at the 500 level tournament in Acapulco, cruising past Feliciano Lopez of Spain 6-1, 6-3 in 53 minutes tonight.  The 21-year-old from Rhode Island, who is unseeded, will play No. 5 seed Kevin Anderson next.

The ITA has released its Division III Men's Team rankings, with National Indoor Champion Emory remaining at the top. The big move was by Indoor host Gustavus Adolphus, who barely lost to Emory in the quarterfinals at the Indoor and won two consolation matches there.

The women's Division III Team Indoor Championships begin Friday in Chattanooga Tennessee, with Sewanee: The University of the South serving as the host.  The quarterfinal matches for Friday:
