USTA National Team Versus University of Miami

My weekly feature for The Tennis Recruiting Network is a more in-depth look at last week's exhibition match between the USTA boys national team and the University of Miami.

Next week Thursday, the USTA girls team travels to Coral Gables for their chance to assess college competition. I think this is a great idea, and hope to see more of these exhibitions in the future.

We're on our way to Chicago for the Men's Indoor, so unless there is some breaking news, this is probably the last post until late Friday. Feel free to weigh in with your predictions on who will be holding the Men's and Women's championship trophies next Monday.

Without seeing the top teams play each other yet for the most part and so many new players on the top teams it looks like a crapshoot right now. Stanford looks like the most talented team, but who knows with them since it seems like someone is always injured for them lately. I wouldnt be surprised to see a number of teams in the finals, but I think they are all playing for second as Ohio State seems to be the clear #1 this year. So here it goes:

Round of 16
Ohio State over Pepperdine
Tennessee over Baylor
UCLA over Illinois
Virginia over Tulsa
USC over Ole Miss
Georgia over Florida State
Stanford over Florida
Texas over Michigan

Quarterfinals
Ohio State over Tennessee
UCLA over Virginia
USC over Georgia
Stanford over Texas

Semifinals
Ohio State over UCLA
Stanford over USC

Finals
Ohio State over Stanford

if austin's draws are correct, I got Texas vs. the winner of ohio state and tennessee in the final. ole miss being a sleeper.

Other than Baylor over Tennessee and Florida State with the upset over Georgia, I have a hard time disagreeing with anything from Austin's predictions. Wish I still lived in Chi-town. Would be fun to watch.

I think Depaul should have gotten a Wild card into the National Team Championships for the good play lately. They beat some good teams in some close matches and they live in Chicago. Their doubles has been superb and could give any team some issues. But as far as the winner goes, I think Michigan takes the cake. Strong play from the back of the line up will get the job done for the Wolverines. love the format and go college tennis!

Whooo, go Wolverines (transplanted Michigan fan in Florida).
