Antonius Claims Second USTA Pro Circuit Title at M15 in Rochester; Baris Wins Louisville M25; Chang Holds Off Shcherbinina to Earn Dallas W35 Title; Bloomfield Hills ATP Challenger 125 Begins Monday

Just eight days after competing for the Wimbledon boys doubles title in London, 16-year-old Michael Antonius won his second USTA Pro Circuit singles title at the M15 on clay in Rochester New York.

Antonius had to win two matches today, with yesterday's semifinals postponed due to rain midway through the opening set.

The second-seeded Antonius, who lives in Buffalo New York when not traveling or training at the USTA's National Campus in Lake Nona, defeated No. 8 seed Ilyas Fahim(Virginia Tech) 7-5, 6-1 in the morning semifinal, and top seed Tristan McCormick(Notre Dame, Georgia) 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 in the final Sunday afternoon. McCormick had beaten 17-year-old Jerrid Gaines Jr., playing in his first Pro Circuit semifinal, 6-2, 6-3.

Antonius, currently at a career-high No. 3 in the World Tennis junior rankings, will be at a career-high around 675 when the points are added a week from tomorrow.

In the doubles final, also delayed due to yesterday's rain and other disruptions during the week, top seeds Andrew Delgado(Wake Forest, Georgia) and Reece Falck(Fresno State, UNC-Wilmington) defeated unseeded Ohio State teammates Alexander Bernard and Ilija Palavestra 6-2, 6-3.

At the women's USTA Pro Circuit tournament in Dallas, 28-year-old Hanna Chang won her third W35 title of the year, with the No. 2 seed coming back to defeat Alina Shcherbinina(Baylor, Oklahoma) of Russia 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in today's final. It's just the second loss for Shcherbinina in her last 28 matches.

Ozan Baris completed his straight-sets run through the field at the M25 in Louisville Kentucky to earn his second M25 title since graduating from Michigan State in May. The 22-year-old from Okemos Michigan, seeded No. 4, defeated top seed and Wake Forest rising sophomore Mees Rottgering of the Netherlands 6-3, 6-2 in today's final.

Baris's success in Louisville probably kept him from being able to compete in the qualifying for the ATP Challenger 125 next week in Bloomfield Hills Michigan, which began today. I'm looking forward to making the trip over to Cranbrook again this year for tomorrow's final round of qualifying and four first round matches, and will watch more first round competition on Tuesday.  Below are the results from today and the schedule for Monday.
