Orange Bowl 16s Videos; Rain Continues at Junior Orange Bowl, Doubles Canceled; Australian National Junior Championships Conclude; Bullard Wins First Indian Wells Challenger Wild Card Event

As promised, given another day without tennis at Junior Orange Bowl, below are the videos of the Orange Bowl 16s finalists in last Saturday's championship matches. If you missed it yesterday, the videos of the Orange Bowl ITF J500 singles finals can be seen on my YouTube Channel.

No Junior Orange Bowl matches went on court today after the fourth straight day of rain in Miami, and as a result, the doubles have been canceled. This is the first year that doubles were scheduled to be played at the Junior Orange Bowl, which had previously been singles only, with a full feed-in backdraw.

The plan is to try to complete the qualifying and two round of singles over Sunday and Monday, with the forecast improving beginning Sunday afternoon. No-ad scoring and a match tiebreaker in lieu of a third set is the format for the first two rounds, except for the girls 14s, who did finish their qualifying yesterday. Because a few G14s main draw matches began Friday under regular scoring, their first round will not use no-ad, but the match tiebreaker will be used. No-ad for the G14s will be used for the second round. The hope is to return to regular scoring by the third round.

An additional site has been opened, with the boys 12s playing Sunday and Monday at Tropical Park.

Matches are scheduled to begin at noon Sunday, but that obviously depends on whether the courts are playable that early in the day.

Draws with times can be found here.

As the tennis world begins to turn its attention to next month's Australian Open, the Australia National Junior championships were played this month. Click on the headings to see the articles from Tennis Australia on the finals, with links to draws.

A second wild card tournament is scheduled for December 29-January 1, also in Lakewood. Entries for this tournament, which is confined to those with Southern California ties, close December 26.
