Kuzuhara Receives ATP Delray Beach Open Qualifying Wild Card; Ohio State Men Move to No. 1; Qualifier Savlejic, Seeds Blokhina and Boika Advance to Paraguay J1 Quarterfinals

A little over a week after Bruno Kuzuhara won the singles and doubles titles at the Australian Open Junior Championships and moved to No. 1 in the ITF Junior rankings comes the word that he has turned pro. Parsa Nemati has the details in this tweet from Tuesday.

The ATP 250 in Delray Beach Florida is next week, and Kuzuhara has been given a wild card into qualifying. 2021 Wimbledon boys finalist Victor Lilov, also 17, will join Kuzuhara in qualifying after winning his spot in a competition the tournament held last fall. For more, see this release from the tournament. Qualifying begins Saturday.

Speaking of Wimbledon, reigning boys champion Samir Banerjee picked up his first ATP point today at this week's $15,000 ITF World Tennis Tour men's tournament in the Dominican Republic. Banerjee, who used his 2021 ITF junior ranking for entry, defeated 19-year-old qualifier Jordi Garcia Mestre of Spain 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Although there were no Division I women's team rankings released today, all the other rankings have been published, and, as expected, the Ohio State men have moved to No. 1 after shutting out No. 1 Tennessee and No. 6 Virginia last weekend. It wasn't unanimous however, with one of the ITA's 12 voters putting Baylor No. 1 and another sticking with Tennessee.  Wake Forest and Stanford also moved up significantly after last weekend's wins over Georgia and Southern California. Complete lists can be found by clicking on the headings.
