The first of the ITF Junior Circuit spring tournaments in the United States began today with a Grade 4 in Las Vegas, a new location for the event that has been in Claremont, Newport Beach and Irvine California in recent years. UCLA recruit Kimmi Hance is the top seed in the girls draw, and she came through the first round with no problem, but boys top seed Fnu Nidunjianzan of China was eliminated by qualifier Sebastian Gorzny 7-5, 6-2.

The No. 2 seed in the boys draw is Texas A&M recruit Giulio Perego of Italy, while the second seed in the girls draw is 14-year-old Victoria Mboko of Canada, who has played in just one ITF junior competition since the restart last August.

Despite the Las Vegas tournament and the upcoming Grade 1s in San Diego, quite a few American juniors are still in other countries competing this week, with another Grade 2 in the Dominican Republic and a Grade 1 in Barranquilla Colombia

Madison Sieg, who did not play the Grade A in Brazil, is the top seed in Colombia, and she won her first round match today. Valencia Xu is the other American girl seeded there, at No. 5.  Ozan Colak is the No. 2 seed in boys draw, with Samir Banerjee[5] and Benjamin Kittay[6] the other seeded Americans.

The first day of main draw action at the ATP Challenger 80 in Cleveland started with a surprise, as former collegiate star Michael Redlicki(Duke/Arkansas) defeated top seed and ATP No. 103 James Duckworth of Australia 7-6(11), 6-1. As big a win as that was for the 27-year-old left-hander, it wasn't his best win by ranking, as he had defeated Tennys Sandgren, then No. 70 in the ATP rankings, when Sandgren was the top seed at the Houston Challenger in November of 2019. Redlicki will play Kentucky sophomore Liam Draxl in the second round after the Canadian wild card defeated Robert Quiroz(USC) of Ecuador 7-6(6), 6-4 today. No. 2 seed Go Soeda of Japan was also eliminated today, with Donald Young taking out Soeda by a 6-3, 6-7(5), 7-5 score.
