I spent the day traveling to Memphis, where I'll be covering the Girls 18s Clay Courts for the seventh consecutive year.

The boys 12s and the boys 14s completed their first rounds today, while the girls 12s and 14s will begin on Sunday. The boys and girls 16s and 18s, which had 64-player qualifying draws for eight spots, began on Thursday, with today an off day for them and the main draw starting on Sunday. (At Kalamazoo, the Saturday after qualifying will have two rounds of doubles and the Opening Ceremonies, which will this year feature Mats Wilander and his Wilander on Wheels Exhibition.)

Where No. 5 seed Katerina Stewart fell in the Girls 18s draw was answered today, with the two-time Pro Circuit title winner landing in the same quarter as top seed Francesca DiLorenzo. Play begins at 8 a.m. Sunday at the Memphis Racquet Club, with DiLorenzo taking on Peyton A. Gollhofer. No. 2 seed Andie Daniell will play Emily Kolbow at approximately 1 p.m.

Today in Austria, qualifier Shelby Rogers reached her first WTA final, beating No. 2 seed Sara Errani of Italy 7-6(12), 6-3. Rogers has beaten No. 3 seed Carla Suarez Navarro, No. 7 Camila Giorgia and now Errani, all on the red clay. After never securing a top 20 win in her career, Rogers now has two with her wins over Suarez Navarro and Errani. Rogers will go for her third on Sunday against No. 4 seed Andrea Petkovic, who came back to defeat Grace Min 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. For more on Rogers win, see the WTA website.
