My Kalamazoo Preview; Southern Wins USTA Girls 18s National Team Championship; Girls 16 and 18 Nationals Draws
With sprinkles already in the area and radar showing heavier precipitation approaching, it looks to be a damp start to the Kalamazoo Boys 16 and 18 Nationals this year. While waiting for the action to begin, check out my preview of the tournament for the Tennis Recruiting Network. The No. 29 seed in the 18s, Roy Lederman, withdrew on Thursday.
The Girls 18s team event finished last night, with top seed Southern defeating No. 2 seed Midwest 4-3. Below are the scores on the championship match. For complete results, see the TennisLink site.
The draws for the Girls 16 and 18 Nationals have been posted. Chalena Scholl, announced as the No. 6 seed, has withdrawn in the 18s, as has No. 2 seed and defending champion Kimberly Yee in the 16s. Olivia Sneed, a No. 17 seed, has also withdrawn from the 18s.
