The panel at last year's USTA College Showcase in Athens |
Two College Showcases are scheduled in the Midwest section, with the first one held in conjunction with the NCAA Division I tournament in Champaign-Urbana, this Sunday, May 19th. For more information on that event, which is sponsored by the USTA, click here for the pdf.
The Midwest section is having their College Showcase on June 27, the day of the finals of the Midwest Closed. For more information on that event, see this page on the section's website.
Robert Cox, the men's head coach at Arkansas is stepping down after 26 seasons leading the Razorbacks. For more on Cox's career and his new responsibilities within the athletic department, see this article from the school's athletic website.
I've mentioned the new Tennis Junior Aces magazine before, which is available for free on the iPad every other month. If you don't have an iPad, you can still download some of the content on the website, including this article on preparing for college tennis by the college placement advisor at Saddlebrook Tennis Academy.

Midwest closed: The day of the finals makes no sense..all of the kids and coaches are gone..why not do it the day before the tournament starts?? Only local kids and parents will stay for the event now..
So true.
Sounds like a great event, but nobody will be there. The finalists, quite frailty don't need it, and those that do will have departed days before.
