September Aces; Men's All-American Qualifying Complete, Play Begins 8 AM Thursday

My monthly Aces feature for the Tennis Recruiting Network was posted this morning. It's always interesting to review the previous month, and September featured the accomplishments of wide variety of juniors, as well as current and former college players. I stopped at 14, but there were others that just missed the cut in a very busy month of tennis.

The weather in Tulsa has been good throughout the pre-qualifying and qualifying, and is expected to continue to be warm and sunny for the first few days here with just a slight chance of rain. I'll be providing live coverage beginning Thursday, when there are two rounds of singles and one round of doubles scheduled. The 16 qualifiers, with their qualifying seedings in parentheses, are:

James Chaudry(17-32), Mississippi St.
Marc Bruche, Iowa
Marcos Giron, UCLA
Andre Dome(9-16), Cal Poly
Mousheg Hovhannisyan, Pepperdine
Charlie Jones, Vanderbilt
Peerakit Siributwong(17-32), Oklahoma
Georgy Batrakov(17-32), Brigham Young
Ben McLachlan, Cal
Kevin King(17-32), Georgia Tech
Guillermo Alcorta, Oklahoma
Benedikt Lindheim(17-32), Nebraska
Damian Hume(9-16), Boise State
Roy Kalmanovich(17-32), Illinois
Nelson Vick(9-16), Ohio State
Yannik Maden(17-32), Clemson

Interesting to note that none of the top eight seeds made it through qualifying, and only one team, Oklahoma, had more than one player advance to the main draw. Spencer Newman of Florida, the last pre-qualifier still around after two rounds of qualifying, lost to Lindheim today.

Ohio State has the most players in the main draw with five, followed by Mississippi State, with four.

The top four seeds are Blaz Rola, Ohio State, Eric Quigley, Kentucky, Henrique Cunha, Duke and Chase Buchanan, Ohio State.

The draw, with times, is available at the ITA site, and Tulsa also provides video and live scoring. Doubles qualifying is also complete and the draw is posted.

Rain in Southern California (this time of year?) has disrupted the qualifying at ITA Riviera All-American. The qualifiers have not been decided, so they can't be placed in the 32-player draw, but it has been posted at the ITA tournament page, and may be completed yet tonight, as they are playing now.

The top four seeds are Jana Juricova, Cal, Allie Will, Florida, Kristy Frilling, Notre Dame and Denise Dy, Washington.
