SMASH Column, Clay Court Edition

A few items Tuesday:

1) My SMASH online column is posted.

2) The ustaboys.com site is down due to a server problem.

3) Subscribers with aol.com email addresses may not be getting daily FeedBlitz updates. I am told that FeedBlitz is working with aol to resolve this. If you add the mail.feedblitz.com address to your allowed senders, you shouldn't have a problem.

4) Peter Bodo has published Mike DePalmer Jr.'s open letter on Junior Development under his post entitled American Man and invited comments. Some of them are definitely worth reading.

5) Sam Querrey beat Vince Spadea Tuesday in the first round of the Countrywide ATP event. USA Today's Doug Robson did this profile of Querrey in Friday's edition.

I was wondering if it was just me who couldn't get on the site, I guess not. Speaking of Mike de Palmer, I'm not sure if you have said it before or not, but that's Rhynne Williams' grandfather. I heard him say it while being interviewed Sunday.

Yes, Mike Sr. is his grandfather and Mike Jr. is his uncle.

"if everything is so hunky dory in Nick's house..."..Agree, one of the better technical coaches in the world in Lansdorp, but Nick saw the POTENTIAL talent in Sharapova from the start, just as now, he has others in the pipeline that would double bagel anybody in USTA High Performance. By the way, Sharapova was no slouch BEFORE she started with Lansdorp, and from what I understand, it was a decision that was supported by Nick at the time, to enlist his services.
