Spring returned to Mobile on Friday, with sunshine and temperatures in the 60s, and the top four seeds in both boys and girls draws advanced to Saturday's round of 32. Magdalena Bresson of Delray Beach FL, the girls top seed, beat Caitlin Baker 6-1, 6-1 and boys top seed Marek Czerwinski of Birmingham MI also advanced in straight sets. The highest seed to fall on Friday was fifth seed Kallim Stewart who was eliminated by Christopher Cloer.

Though form is holding at the top, more than half (17) of the boys seeds have been eliminated in the first two days, and on the girls side, thirteen unseeded players have advanced to the third round.
