Sports like swimming, track and golf are different because its against the field or golf course. It was weird when Pernfors played Bezecny in the NCAA finals in Athens a few years back. On a positive note, maybe there will be good sportsmanship in this match.Andy M.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10016685.post-74089962997044603322011-05-29T09:31:45.868-04:002011-05-29T09:31:45.868-04:00Americans dominating the semifinals, but also some...Americans dominating the semifinals, but also some oddities. On the mens side there are two guys who play #1 for their, one guy who plays #2, and another that plays #3. Not to mention the guys who play #2 & 3 for their team are teammates and their #1 guy is a former finalist and ALMOST took out the overall #1 seed. We could have had three semifinalts from Tennessee if JP Smith hadnt lost his serve there in in the third set against Johnson. I think Johnson beats Shabaz in a very tight match. Im not sure what to make of the Vol v. Vol match. I think Williams could either crush Sandgren or it will be a long three setter.

On the womens side there is the overall #1 seed, but then it gets weird. You have the #2 player on the national championship team, then teammates from the runner-up who play #3 & 4 for their team...#3 & 4!!! I found it strange how Stanfords #3 player could demolish their #1 player so bad. I think Embree will destroy Tan, then Juricova and Gibbs play a very tight match, but I give the edge to the #1 seed who has the experience.

With the exception of the USC womens doubles team of Sanchez-Christian, every single person still playing today, a total of 23 players(Juricova alive in both), competed in the team competition here at Stanford as well.Austinnoreply@blogger.com
